The Storm

The Storm

The Storm

From nothing, it begins
A calm so still, interrupted
Stirring, it sends ripples across the water’s surface
A light breeze echoes, trailing off into the boundless expanse
Silence, then. A lull, it seems
Again, it comes
Stronger now, gaining speed
A thunderous crash announces its presence
It has arrived
Howling, whipping, thrashing
Crashing, turning, raging
Without warning, it slows
Abating, diminishing, slackening
Soothing, relaxing, quieting
Silence once more
The world regains composure. Normalcy reigns anew
